On this day in Pro-Wrestling History in 2001, the last ever edition of WCW Monday Nitro aired. WWF purchased WCW on March 23, 2001 and ended the Monday Night Wars on this night 16 years ago.

On this edition of Nitro, Booker T defeated Scott Steiner to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, while Billy Kidman & Rey Mysterio Jr. def. Elix Skipper & Kid Romeo to win the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles.

The last ever Nitro match was between Sting & Ric Flair (which you can watch below). Sting defeated Ric Flair via submission. Also during this night, Shane McMahon revealed that he’s signed the contract and is now the owner of WCW.
