Was The WWE Retirement of Dudley Boyz Legit?

The Dudley Boyz announced their retirement on last night’s Raw. Their retirement speech was interrupted by The Shining Stars, who ended up getting laid out by The Dudleys.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson then came out and attacked the Dudleys. They gave a Magic Killer to Bubba Ray Dudley outside the ring and a Magic Killer to D-Von Dudley through a table.

Below are the videos of the brawl and their farewell speech:

There was speculation that Dudley Boyz retiring could be a storyline as they recently agreed to a one year deal with WWE. A few weeks back, there were reports of WWE officials wanting to turn Bubba Ray Dudley heel and make him similar to his Bully Ray character in TNA Wrestling (where he became the TNA World Heavyweight Champion).

However, that won’t be the case as the WWE retirement of Dudley Boyz was legitimate and they are free agents now. They did agree to a new deal but both sides mutually decided to part ways sometime last week. The beatdown by Gallows & Anderson was done to put them over as heels.

Below is the PPV record of The Dudley Boyz since their return to WWE last year:

Night of Champions 2015: def. The New Day via DQ in a WWE Tag Team Title match.

Hell in a Cell 2015: lost to The New Day in a WWE Tag Team Title match.

Survivor Series 2015: Teamed up with Goldust, Neville & Titus O’Neil to defeat the team of The Cosmic Wasteland, The Miz & Bo Dallas on the Kickoff show.

TLC 2015: Teamed up with Tommy Dreamer & Rhyno (Team ECW) to lose to The Wyatt Family in a Tag Team Elimination Tables match.

Royal Rumble 2016: Lost to the team of Mark Henry & Jack Swagger in a Fatal 4 way tag team match on the Kickoff show.

WrestleMania 32: Lost to The Usos on the Kickoff show.

Money in the Bank 2016: Lost to The Lucha Dragons on the Kickoff show.

SummerSlam 2016: Lost to the team of Neville & Sami Zayn.

In short, Dudley Boyz’ WWE PPV record upon their return will end up being 2-6.
