[showhide more_text=”Read More” less_text=”Read Less”]The first ever WWE Universal Champion will be crowned at SummerSlam 2016, when the former 2 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins faces the former NXT Champion Finn Balor (in his Demon alter-ego). Seth Rollins was put in this match by Stephanie McMahon as he was the #1 Draft pick and Finn Balor won a Fatal 4 Way match and defeated Roman Reigns in the main event of the 1st ever Raw episode of this new Brand Extension era to earn the right to face Rollins for the Title.
SummerSlam 2016 is 2 weeks away at the moment and plans can change until then, but as of now, “The Demon” Finn Balor is the favorite to defeat Seth Rollins and become the 1st ever WWE Universal Champion.
Vince McMahon wanted to bring Balor up to the main roster way before the Draft took place and as soon as he made his debut on Raw, he was given a main event push. Triple H agreed with the move and thinks Balor’s success on the main roster can prove very beneficial for NXT.
Speaking of the Universal Title match, we noted before how it might not be the main event at SummerSlam 2016, as current plans are for Brock Lesnar & Randy Orton to main event the PPV (as their match is being billed as “15 years in the making”).
