• Old School Wrestling Veteran Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 53rd birthday of Old School WWF/WCW Veteran Giant González aka El Gigante (Real name: Jorge González).

When Ted Turner realized that the giant wasn’t gonna make it in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks, he offered him the proper training to become Professional Wrestler.

El Gigante then went on to work for World Championship Wrestling from May 1990 until January 1992, before joining the World Wrestling Federation in January 1993.

His proudest moment was probably showing up uninvited during the 1993 Royal Rumble match and eliminating The Undertaker.

After the Taker rivalry ended at SummerSlam, they tried to turn him babyface (similar to what they did with André after the WrestleMania VI match), but for whatever reason didn’t renew his contract, when the old one expired in October 1993.

• WWE Officials Worried About Wrestlers Possibly Leaving For AEW, Backstage Meeting Held (Details)

According to PWInsider, WWE Officials are worried about wrestlers possibly leaving to go to All Elite Wrestling after Dean Ambrose decided that he wants to leave (it should be noted that Ambrose leaving is not a work).

WWE held a meeting backstage at SmackDown this week with wrestlers and below are the details that Mike Johnson of PWInsider gave regarding it:

“I can say this that after the Dean Ambrose news came out on late Monday early Tuesday there was a buzz of activity backstage at SmackDown as anybody that had a contract coming up in the next years or two was pulled into rooms and spoken to by management about signing longer form deals and all the wrestlers were sitting there looking at each other going, ‘Will you look at this?! This is crazy!’

So there definitely was I think the realization that people could potentially leave to go to AEW. You know WWE might have been paying attention to it before and monitoring it as Triple H said, but there was definitely a cause and effect between Dean Ambrose making the decision that he’s leaving and that news coming out and everybody buzzing about it and yesterday at SmackDown people being spoken to about deals.”
