Former WWE Champion Jeff Hardy is poised to hit the free-agent market imminently.

Initially reported by Fightful in April, Hardy’s contract was slated to expire in the spring, a period that has since passed. Despite speculation that AEW might extend his contract due to previous missed time, no extension has been announced.

Hardy has been absent from the ring since sustaining an injury during a No Disqualification match against Sammy Guevara on Valentine’s Day. His brother, Matt Hardy, departed AEW a few months ago when his own contract expired, sparking fan speculation about Jeff’s future in the industry.

According to Fightful Select, Jeff Hardy is set to become a free agent on Friday. Jeff originally joined AEW in 2022 after his release from WWE.

Matt Hardy had previously mentioned ongoing discussions about a contract renewal with AEW, though Fightful reports that there have been no substantial conversations about Matt’s return to the promotion. Notably, Matt’s recent stint with TNA was successful enough that additional dates were added to his agreement.

Meanwhile, Matt Hardy is gearing up to challenge for the TNA World Heavyweight Title on Friday at Against All Odds.

Speaking of Matt Hardy, he teased returning to WWE on next week’s episode of NXT, to compete in the 25-man Battle Royal, where the winner will earn an NXT Championship match against Trick Williams at Heatwave.

Here’s what Matt tweeted:

“After I PROCURE the TNA Title of the World on Friday, I might just DELETE 24 OBNOXIOUS ANTS & also become the NXT Champion.”
