Heel Turn Takes Place After Sasha Banks Becomes Champion In AEW Debut Match At Double Or Nothing 2024

Tonight’s AEW Double Or Nothing 2024 pay-per-view took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the Las Vegas suburb of Paradise, Nevada. All Elite Wrestling celebrated their 5-year anniversary with this event. Below are the results:

– Tony Khan & Martha Hart announced the 2024 Owen Hart Cup Tournament. They announced the finals will be determined on July 10th in Calgary and the two winners will get an AEW World Title match & AEW Women’s World Title match at All In at Wembley Stadium.

– The Acclaimed def. Gates of Agony

Main PPV Show Results

– Will Ospreay def. Roderick Strong (c) to win the AEW International Championship

– Adam Cole came out to cut a promo, but MJF made his return and laid him out. MJF said he remembered who he is and that’s a generational talent. MJF said he’s not like the other schmucks in the back, because he doesn’t need NJPW or a Vince McMahon to ‘make him’, as MJF made MJF.

MJF said he’s the greatest wrestler to walk god’s green earth. MJF said The Devil’s mask can go straight to hell. He gave the mask an Elbow Drop in Ric Flair style, spit in it and threw it away. MJF then gave his AEW contract status by showing a tattoo on his leg with an AEW logo that said “Bet On Yourself” and then ended his promo by saying:

“I’m not f**king leaving.”

– Bang Bang Gang (c) def. Death Triangle to retain the Unified AEW Trios Championship

After MJF, another injured wrestler returned – Juice Robinson. He helped Bang Bang Gang win.

– “Timeless” Toni Storm (c) def. Serena Deeb to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship

– Orange Cassidy def. Trent Beretta

After the match, Rocky Romero came out and tried to talk to Trent. Trent pushed Rocky away. Renee Paquette asked Trent what’s next for him and Trent said he’s done. He walked away through the crowd, thus teasing that he has quit AEW.

– Chris Jericho (c) def. Katsuyori Shibata and Hook in a Triple Threat Match to retain the FTW Championship with help from Big Bill and a Masked Man. The man took off his mask and it’s revealed to be Bryan Keith.

– IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley def. Konosuke Takeshita in a Title Eliminator Match

– Adam Copeland aka Edge (c) def. Malakai Black in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match to retain the TNT Championship

At one point, Copeland fell out of the cage through the door. Buddy Matthews and Brody King then came out to attack Copeland. This led to Gangrel making his return to help his former Attitude Era stablemate.

Copeland and Gangrel hugged after the match and celebrated.

– Don Callis thanked Will Ospreay for bringing another championship to The Don Callis Family, and revealed that he will have a contract for a new member of his family on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

– Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks in WWE) def. Willow Nightingale (c) to win the TBS Women’s Championship

This was Mone’s debut match in AEW. Kris Statlander’s interference cost Willow the match, as she had Mone beat at one point, but the referee was distracted. After the match, Statlander turned heel and attacked Nightingale.

– Swerve Strickland (c) def. Christian Cage to retain the AEW World Championship

Strickland celebrated with Boxing Legend Floyd Mayweather after the match. You can watch it below:

– The Elite (Jack Perry, AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada & AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks) def. Team AEW (Bryan Danielson, Darby Allin & FTR) in the Anarchy In The Arena match

During this match, Jack Perry put his hands on Tony Khan and Darby Allin set Jack on fire! You can watch it below:

In the end, Jack pinned Bryan to pick up the win.
