• ON THIS DAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY (May 17, 1998) – WCW SLAMBOREE 1998

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on May 17, 1998, Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling aired ‘WCW Slamboree 1998’ LIVE on PPV from The Centrum in Worcester, Massachusetts.

This was the 6th Slamboree pay-per-view out of 8 that WCW aired between 1993 and 2000.

The event featured Scott Hall (fka Razor Ramon) turning on his long-time tag team partner Kevin Nash (fka Diesel), as well as Eric Bischoff’s invitation for WWF promoter Vince McMahon to wrestle him on this WCW PPV.

McMahon obviously ignored that challenge, so Bischoff “won the match” via forfeit.

The results can be found here:

WCW World Television Championship: Fit Finlay (c) defeated Chris Benoit

Lex Luger defeated Brian Adams

Dean Malenko won a #1 contender (CW Title) Battle Royal

WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Dean Malenko defeated Chris Jericho (c)

Bowery Death match: Diamond Dallas Page defeated Raven

Eddie Guerrero defeated Último Dragón

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship: Goldberg (c) defeated Perry Saturn

Open Challenge To Vince McMahon: Eric Bischoff won by forfeit

Bret Hart defeated Randy Savage by DQ  [the result was overturned by Roddy Piper the next night on Nitro]

WCW World Tag Team Championship: Sting & The Giant defeated The Outsiders (c)
