Undertaker Says John Cena’s 17th World Title Win Depends On One Factor

The Undertaker vs. John Cena - WrestleMania 34

John Cena, a 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, stands on the brink of breaking WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s record with a potential 17th title win. According to The Undertaker, this historic victory hinges on one crucial factor — John Cena’s schedule.

On a recent episode of his “Six Feet Under” podcast, The Undertaker delved into the prospects of Cena capturing a World Title one last time before retiring. The Deadman emphasized that the decision rests entirely with Cena, who must consider the demands of being a champion once again.

“I think it probably depends on him; whether you know he has the time. He obviously deserves it, but I think it basically just depends on him… I mean, he’s put a lot into it, and I think whatever he wants to do,” The Undertaker said.

Cena has transitioned to a part-time role in WWE over the past few years, balancing his wrestling career with a flourishing Hollywood journey. This shift makes the prospect of another title run a challenging commitment, requiring him to return to regular appearances and live events—duties expected of the company’s top superstar.

Cena has not shied away from discussing the possibility of a 17th World Title reign. When asked by Chris Van Vliet about his favorite title run, Cena’s reply was telling: “My next one”. This comment underscores his lingering ambition despite his limited in-ring activity.

Cena’s last WWE Championship win was at the 2017 Royal Rumble, where he defeated AJ Styles. However, his reign was short-lived, as he lost the championship to Bray Wyatt two weeks later at Elimination Chamber 2017. Since then, Cena’s WWE appearances have been sporadic.

Most recently, Cena made a surprise return at WrestleMania 40, aiding Cody Rhodes against The Bloodline by delivering Attitude Adjustments to both Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa before being confronted by The Rock. He also appeared on Monday Night RAW the night after, teaming with The Miz & R-Truth against The Judgment Day, marking his last WWE appearance to date.

As fans eagerly anticipate Cena’s next move, the question remains: Will he step away from Hollywood long enough to chase a record-breaking 17th WWE World Championship? Only time will tell if Cena will make the hard call and return for another historic title run.
