“It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Former Hall of Famer, Polaivao Leati Sika Anoa’i. He passed away peacefully on June 25th. Sika was a celebrated figure whose contributions and legacy have left an indelible mark. His memory will live on through his achievements and the many lives he touched.

He was many things: a hard working father, a caring brother, a supportive uncle, and a proud grandfather. He was a cherished friend to many, a loving family member whose warmth and kindness knew no bounds, and an inspiration to countless individuals. His legacy will continue to inspire and uplift future generations, reminding us of the impact one person’s life can have on so many. Rest in love Uncle Sika.”

Sika Anoa’i, better known as Wild Samoan Sika, was born on April 5, 1945, in American Samoa. He began his wrestling career in the early 1970s, quickly making a name for himself alongside his brother Afa as part of the Wild Samoans tag team. The duo was known for their intense, hard-hitting style and their wild, untamed personas that captivated audiences worldwide.

The Wild Samoans achieved great success in various wrestling promotions, but their most notable accomplishments came in the WWF (now WWE). Managed by the legendary Captain Lou Albano, they captured the WWF Tag Team Championship three times, becoming one of the most dominant and feared teams of their era. Their feuds with teams like Tony Garea and Rick Martel, as well as The Strongbows, are still remembered as some of the most exciting tag team rivalries in wrestling history.

Beyond his in-ring achievements, Sika played a crucial role in the Anoa’i wrestling dynasty. He is the father of WWE superstar Roman Reigns, who has become one of the biggest names in the industry.

Reigns, born Leati Joseph Anoa’i, has followed in his father’s footsteps, achieving numerous championships and headlining multiple WrestleMania events. Sika’s influence on his son’s career is evident, with Roman Reigns often speaking about the guidance and inspiration he received from his father.

In addition to Roman Reigns, Sika is also the uncle of several other notable wrestlers, including Yokozuna, Rikishi, and The Usos, further cementing the Anoa’i family’s legacy in the world of professional wrestling.

Sika’s contributions to wrestling were recognized with his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007, alongside his brother Afa. The Wild Samoans’ legacy lives on, not only through their numerous accolades but also through the continued success of their family members in the wrestling industry.

Sika leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and a passion for wrestling that continues to inspire future generations. His contributions to the sport will be remembered, and his presence will be deeply missed.

He last appeared on WWE programming at Hell In A Cell 2020, after Roman defeated Jey Uso to retain the Universal Championship. Below is a photo of them together after the match:
