Matt Riddle revealed that he is still getting paid by the UFC (part of TKO Group Holdings) due to a major class-action lawsuit despite being fired in 2013.

Speaking on Developmentally Speaking, Riddle discussed the pros and cons of his WWE release, noting he’s now happy to have control over his life and schedule after a decade of restrictions while chasing career goals.

Riddle acknowledged the downside of losing potential millions but highlighted the benefit of no longer working under Dana White or TKO. He added that he’s part of a lawsuit against the UFC, which he considers a win, as it guarantees him a payout.

Here’s what the former United States Champion said:

“When I got released, I thought, ‘This is good.’ I looked at the pros and cons. The cons? Okay, I got fired. Am I gonna get paid millions of dollars? Probably not. But the pros? Dana White’s not my boss. I don’t work for TKO anymore.

Another pro is there’s a huge lawsuit against them, and I’m part of that because I fought for them a bunch during that time period. So, I’m going to collect my check. Technically, even though I got fired, I’m still getting paid. So, thank you, TKO and UFC, for that!”

The lawsuit stems from claims that the UFC underpaid fighters and restricted competition. A federal judge preliminarily approved a $375 million settlement in October, covering over 1,000 fighters from 2010–2017. Payouts range from $15,000 to over $1 million based on individual factors.
