Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving Rey Mysterio and Carlito.

• Rey Mysterio has showcased some incredible ring gear throughout his career, frequently drawing inspiration from iconic superheroes.

His past attires have included nods to characters like Spider-Man, Superman, The Joker, Wolverine, and others. However, fans might not see these tributes as frequently moving forward.

During an interview on the Unlikely podcast, Rey revealed that WWE asked him to scale back on these designs after receiving cease and desist letters:

“Actually, WWE had to shut me down for a minute because I was getting too exaggerated. It’s my logo. I’m just using their colors and maybe a Captain America star here and the gloves, but I don’t change anything.

With this outfit, I have a dope idea I want to put into work, and I’m hoping I’m able to bust it out. Overall, it’s always been an inspiration.

When I did the first one, I was in AAA. I did a Superman outfit; I used to wear tights and trunks over the tights, and the logo on the trunks had the Superman logo with the ‘?’ and the colors; I just wore a red cape. People got what I was trying to do.

I did Batman, Spider-Man, and I carried that with me to WWE until they told me, ‘Hey, maybe you’ve got to stop a little bit because we’re getting cease and desist letters.’”

• During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, current RAW Superstar Carlito talked about various topics, including not joining AEW when he was away from WWE. Below are the highlights:

Returning at Royal Rumble 2021 in front of 0 fans:

“There was no crowd. Yeah, it was weird, but I know through the internet and stuff, you could see and kind of feel what was going on. And then the RAW, too, was the same thing. No crowd. And then I didn’t come back till 2023, and then the crowds were there. Yeah, so that’s kind of my first experience back with the crowd. That’s what you kind of start to feel like, man, that was, yeah, this is pretty cool. I wish I could do this again.”

On not joining AEW:

“I have a thing with loyalty, you know. I mean, I’ve only ever been a WWE guy, so I always kind of liked that, you know, just being a one-company guy. So, I mean, as long as they’ll have me, you know, I’d try to stay loyal to WWE as long as I could, and hopefully, I would honestly like to end my career with them.”
