Below are some top news stories of the day, featuring Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Elias.
• According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE wants to do a feud between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre. This feud was originally planned for 2023, but plans changed once Cody didn’t defeat Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 39.
PWInsider reported that Drew is expected to get transferred to SmackDown soon.
Right now, the Rhodes vs. McIntyre feud is expected after WrestleMania 41 and there’s no word on if the WWE Title will be a part of this storyline.
As we have noted before, Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest is currently planned for WrestleMania 41.
• At Royal Rumble 2025, Kevin Owens lost to Cody Rhodes in a Ladder Match for the WWE Championship.
Owens has signed a new WWE contract for 5 years, which he teased by tweeting the following:
“If you guys help support my daughter’s Girl Scout troop by buying some cookies, I promise to keep wrestling for at least 4 years, 11 months and 22 days more.”
Owens attacked Sami Zayn on this week’s RAW.
• According to the Wrestling Observer, former WWE Superstar Elias, now known as Elijah, has signed with AEW-ROH:
“Elijah (formerly Elias, real name Jeff Sciullo, 37) has signed here. A video was posted showing him as the new member of The Righteous group with Dutch & Vincent on ROH. He teamed with them on the Jericho Cruise this week.
The fact they are still signing new people for ROH would indicate Tony Khan hasn’t given up on fortifying for a media rights deal.”
Chris Jericho is the current World Champion in Ring of Honor.
