Former WWE Superstar Odyssey Jones, whose real name is Omari Palmer, has taken legal action against his ex-girlfriend, Meileth Nunez, by filing a slander lawsuit. Court records from Orange County, Florida, confirm that Palmer officially submitted the lawsuit on January 20, 2025, seeking damages exceeding $100,000. As of January 29, the case remains pending.

According to the complaint, Nunez made “false verbal and written statements” about Palmer between May and July 2024 to WWE’s parent company, TKO Group, as well as various news outlets. Palmer asserts that these statements were “categorically false” and “maliciously made with actual knowledge of the statements’ falsity.” He further alleges that the accusations led directly to WWE terminating his contract in September 2024. The lawsuit seeks actual, special, and punitive damages, in addition to pre- and post-judgment interest.

The controversy began in mid-2024 when Nunez accused Palmer of physically attacking her after discovering messages between her and another man. She alleged that Palmer threw objects at her and slammed her to the ground twice, even providing photos of bruises that she claimed resulted from the assault.

Palmer has consistently denied these allegations and has instead accused Nunez of harassment. Court records indicate that Palmer was granted a protection order against Nunez in September 2024. In his petition to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Orange County, he detailed multiple incidents of harassment and threats, including a notable altercation during a cruise in May 2024. Palmer claimed that Nunez “became increasingly irate and started punching, slapping, and kicking me” after accusing him of interacting with another woman. “She was screaming at me the whole time. I attempted to defend myself from her attack by hugging her arms to her side,” he stated.

Another alleged incident took place in December 2023 at a Ft. Lauderdale hotel, where Palmer claimed that Nunez “showed up uninvited and unannounced and attacked me in front of my friend and other witnesses.” He further asserted that following the cruise incident, Nunez threatened to retaliate against him and subsequently contacted his employer, which he believes led to his WWE release. Palmer also reported Nunez to the Maitland Police Department for stalking.

The protection order initially granted on September 6, 2024, has since been extended twice. Most recently, on January 6, 2025, a Florida court extended the order for an additional three years, ensuring its enforcement until early 2028. Palmer also disclosed that he and Nunez originally dated in 2017, separated in 2018, and rekindled their relationship in August 2023. He stated that he previously had a protection order against her in New York, while her attempt to file an order against him was denied. The couple never lived together.

On January 11, 2025, Palmer publicly addressed the allegations for the first time through an Instagram video.

“Good morning, my name is Omari Palmer, AKA Odyssey Jones, and first and foremost, I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me the strength to get through these difficult times,” he stated.

He explained that he had waited to speak out until he was legally protected. “I apologize for taking so long to address these false claims, but I had to patiently wait to get an injunction set in place to protect my family, my friends, and myself.”

Despite the legal battle, Palmer expressed gratitude toward WWE. “I would like to thank WWE for the amazing opportunity,” he said. “I thank you so much for bringing me up. I’d also like to thank management and creative for putting me in a position for success, as well as thank the fans for the support that you give me, not only today but all the way back to day one.”

Palmer concluded by affirming his commitment to his wrestling career. “The journey continues. I’m ready to get back to doing what I love to do. I’m accepting bookings for 2025, and I thank you all for your support and for your time.”
