Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring Ricky Starks and Hulk Hogan.
• Not long after AEW removed Malakai Black from its roster page—confirming his free agency—Ricky Starks and Miro were also taken off the roster.
PWInsider previously reported that AEW had reached a mutual agreement with Miro regarding his departure. In an update, Starks has been let go as well and he’s 100% free to sign with any company he wants now.
Both men asked for their release from the company and were finally granted it. Multiple sources have reported that WWE have interest in bringing them in.
Miro’s last match took place at AEW Worlds End 2023, where he defeated Andrade El Idolo.
Ricky Starks last wrestled in AEW on an episode of Collision in March 2024.

• The originally scheduled main event for the WWF SummerSlam 1993 pay-per-view was WWF Champion ‘The Immortal’ Hulk Hogan defending his title against Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart.
Hogan was going to put over Bret in a classic babyface vs. babyface match, similar to Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI more than 3 years earlier.
But as we all know, that did not happen and The Hulkster dropped the Title to Yokozuna at the WWF King of the Ring 1993 PPV two months earlier instead.
Various versions of what led to that decision exist, including Bret blaming Hogan for not wanting to put him over, while Hulk explained that Vince McMahon changed his mind and it was all Vince’s decision.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Hulk talked about Bret’s hate for multiple wrestlers, including him, and took a shot at The Hitman in the end:
“Bret Hart, he hates Goldberg, and he hates everybody, so I don’t know where I fall in line there. I don’t know. The funny thing is that I saw him, I was in a WWE locker room and I was called to Gorilla Position, and I walked through the door, and Nattie, who I love to death, was standing there with Bret, and I go, ‘Hey Bret!’ and I reach out and shake his hand. He stuck his hand out and I shook it real quick and I was gone before he realized it was me, I think.
I love Bret to death, but it is what it is with your career, you know what I’m saying? If you could’ve done any better, you would’ve.”
