Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, involving CM Punk and Vince McMahon.
• Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship was the originally planned main event of WrestleMania 40 – Night 1.
However, Punk suffering a triceps injury during the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match nixed that plan.
Rollins is still building up this feud for the future, as he took a shot at Punk’s failed UFC career.
During an interview with Marc Raimondi, Rollins said the following about how he’d do in the UFC:
“I can’t do what they do. I’d go in there and get knocked out or choked out in two seconds.
I’d probably do better than Punk but I still would lose, most likely. But, they can’t come and do what we do either.
They’re the same, same umbrella, but two totally different worlds.”
• On his Snake Pit podcast, WWF Legend and current AEW personality Jake “The Snake” Roberts had the following to say about the latest allegations against Vince McMahon:
“It was very disgusting. But it doesn’t surprise me, and that bothers me. For me to be able to say, ‘That doesn’t surprise me’. It leaves me thinking, ‘Man. This is pretty disgusting s**t you’re looking at here, and it doesn’t surprise me’.
I believe the man is obviously partially insane. He’s drunk with power. He has been for a long time.
But remember when they were doing the kiss your a$$ thing? That was pretty sh*tty. But to see and read that and not be surprised by it makes me shake my head, man.
Just so disgusting. Christ, man. I just don’t get it. I don’t get it.”
