As seen in the main event segment of SmackDown, Cody Rhodes said he’s coming for Roman Reigns and the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, but not at WrestleMania 40.
The American Nightmare then basically gave his WrestleMania 40 main event spot to The Rock.
This resulted in a major backlash on social media, as fans online want Cody to finish the story at WrestleMania XL.
Fans are rallying behind The American Nightmare, as #WeWantCody is trending #1 in the US.
Also, fans have filled The Rock’s latest Instagram post with hate comments about how he “screwed” Cody and his story, that’s been building for 2 years.
The video of Roman Reigns and The Rock’s face-off is now WWE’s most disliked video on YouTube, with almost 400,000 dislikes.
Even mainstream media is covering this now, including TMZ and USA Today Sports.
We are being told that this is exactly what WWE wanted – fans to not focus on the Vince McMahon situation.
Stories of Vince’s latest allegations are going around on Social Media every day and he is all over the news, putting WWE in a bad light.
By creating this new situation between Rock & Cody, WWE has successfully diverted fans’ and media’s attention to the backlash towards one of the biggest stars in the world today, Dwayne Johnson.
Even though this is bad publicity towards WrestleMania 40, WWE officials believe anything is better than the Vince McMahon situation.
