Below are some top AEW news stories of the day, involving The Young Bucks and Tony Khan.

• The Young Bucks recently revealed that AEW had to scrap a creative concept called “Elite Roulette” or “EVP Roulette” due to its similarity to WWE NXT’s “Spin the Wheel, Make a Deal” angle.

Speaking on the Social Suplex Podcast Network, they shared that the idea involved spinning a wheel weekly to randomly select a tag team for an immediate title match. Backstage, multiple teams would be prepared in gear, adding an element of unpredictability.

The Bucks had envisioned using this concept to shockingly lose their titles in a short match, likening it to the Ultimate Warrior/Honky Tonk Man dynamic.

However, AEW’s Sanjay Dutt informed them of NXT’s similar concept, leading to the cancellation of their plans. The Bucks expressed disappointment, believing the angle would have been a unique and memorable way to drop the titles.

They also mentioned that they were originally supposed to lose the AEW World Tag Team Titles earlier than they did, though details were not disclosed. Despite the setback, they remain hopeful that elements of the “Elite Roulette” idea could be revisited in the future.
