Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day.

• The already talent-rich AEW roster might soon expand with the addition of the Grizzled Young Veterans. The dynamic tag team, comprised of James Drake and Zack Gibson, has been making waves in the wrestling world since their departure from WWE.

Drake and Gibson joined WWE in 2018, quickly making their mark by becoming the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions. However, they opted to leave WWE on their own terms in 2023, seeking new opportunities. Their journey led them to TNA Wrestling, where they also revealed plans to start their own promotion. In late April, they made their AEW debut, albeit in a losing effort against The Acclaimed on an episode of Collision.

Fightful Select reports that AEW has been in ongoing contract negotiations with the Grizzled Young Veterans. As of last week, while a deal was not yet certain, AEW has shown sustained interest in securing the talented duo.

Although the Grizzled Young Veterans had multiple stints with TNA, they never signed formal contracts and wrapped up their commitments with the company in March. Now, all eyes are on AEW to see if they will successfully add this impressive tag team to their ranks.

• Monday’s episode of WWE RAW might not be the last time fans see Ricochet on the company’s flagship show. Despite reports of his impending departure from WWE, there’s a chance he could make one more appearance.

According to PWInsider, Ricochet has given notice to WWE, signaling his intent to leave the company. This news has fueled speculation that the high-flying star might be headed to AEW. On RAW, his exit seemed imminent when he was dramatically written off television. During the show, Bron Breakker violently threw him into a WWE production truck and smashed him through a car windshield.

However, PWInsider reports that there’s a possibility Ricochet might return for one final appearance. With his contract set to expire shortly, and given the significant attention his departure has garnered, WWE is considering capitalizing on the situation. There was talk backstage on Monday about a creative pitch to bring him back for another show.

Whether this potential return happens remains uncertain. Ricochet’s WWE contract is believed to expire sometime around July. Fans will have to stay tuned to see if he makes a surprise comeback before officially leaving the company.
