Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving AJ Styles and Cody Rhodes.

• Following his unsuccessful challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash At The Castle, AJ Styles is gearing up for an exciting new chapter. Although Styles was unable to dethrone Cody Rhodes, fans didn’t have to wait long to see what’s next for The Phenomenal One. AJ Styles is set to compete at NOAH Destination 2024, bringing his immense talent to the prestigious Budokan Hall.

In a thrilling announcement, Pro Wrestling NOAH and WWE revealed that Styles will face Japanese wrestling legend Naomichi Marufuji on July 13th at Budokan Hall. This match is highly anticipated, seen by many as a dream encounter between two of the industry’s best. Styles confirmed the news in a brief video on X, expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming bout.

Naomichi Marufuji vs AJ Styles

“I am here to announce that I will be coming to Japan to face Japanese legend Marufuji at the Budokan at the NOAH event on July 13th. Let’s tear the house down on July 13th,” Styles said, setting the stage for what promises to be a memorable match.

Styles is no stranger to Japan, having built a significant part of his career there. During his tenure with TNA, he competed extensively in Japan, later returning to NJPW full-time in 2014. In NJPW, Styles achieved considerable success, including winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice, before making his WWE debut in 2016.

This bout between Styles and Marufuji is also notable for its significance as a collaboration between WWE and NOAH. This isn’t the first time the two promotions have joined forces. Last year, Shinsuke Nakamura squared off against The Great Muta at NOAH’s New Year show, marking a successful partnership that fans are excited to see continue.

• At Clash At The Castle 2024, Cody Rhodes made AJ Styles say “I Quit” to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Cody handcuffed AJ to the ring ropes and was about to smash him in the head with the steel ring steps. Before that could happen, AJ quit and ended the match.

Rhodes still hit Styles in the shoulder with the steps because Mama Rhodes wanted to see that happen.

After the match, The Bloodline attacked Cody, which led to Randy Orton & Kevin Owens making the save for The American Nightmare.

Cody posted the following about what’s next for him on his Instagram story:

“Still buzzing from that environment last night – body feels like it was thrown down a rocky cliffside still…

Such a fever for this

What do we do next?

Besides bust up Solo’s team”

It looks like Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa for the WWE Championship could be the next program.
