Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day.
• RAW star Chad Gable is the latest WWE star facing the end of his contract, joining notable names such as Natalya and Becky Lynch. Gable’s tenure with WWE has seen ups and downs, particularly after the split of American Alpha, his tag team with Jason Jordan, under Vince McMahon’s leadership. Fans felt that Gable’s potential was underutilized during this period.
However, Gable’s fortunes have improved under Triple H, who has reinvigorated Gable’s career with a renewed push as the leader of Alpha Academy and a heel turn that has resonated well with audiences.
According to Fightful Select, Gable’s WWE contract is set to expire late next week, and no new deal has been finalized yet. The report highlighted that Gable could attract significant interest from various wrestling promotions if he becomes a free agent. WWE has expressed interest in re-signing him, with his current deal set to end next Friday.
The industry buzz suggests that talent from multiple organizations will likely advocate for Gable’s signing. Promotions like AEW and TNA could see substantial benefits from adding Gable to their rosters. Additionally, some MMA companies have shown interest in having Gable compete under their banners, further expanding his potential career opportunities.
• The Wrestling Observer reported that Becky Lynch is going on an extended leave from WWE:
“Becky Lynch did not renew. Becky Lynch is taking an extended leave. From what I was told, it’s not like a short period of time. She was looking for a long period of time out.
If [Seth Rollins is] not on the road, it makes sense for her not to be on the road. They can’t be hurting for money or anything where they need it right now, and maybe she’s looking at other things.”
Xero News further added that Becky is expected to remain on hiatus for the rest of 2024, and then return on the road to WrestleMania 41.
