Below are some top WWE news stories of the day.

• Sonya Deville of Pure Fusion Collective voiced her frustration on X about being excluded from the tournament for the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

In a video posted by her, she criticized the selection process, particularly calling out Dakota Kai’s inclusion, saying:

“I have literally overcome things, but I don’t sit here and brag about how much I deserve things. You have Dakota Kai in the tournament. Now we’re applauding her so much because she’s come back from her fourth injury in four years, and that’s something to brag about now?! That’s something that’s rewarded now? What are we doing?”

Deville hinted at withholding further comments to avoid ‘getting in trouble’.

• NXT Champion Trick Williams praised CM Punk’s backstage demeanor during an interview on the No Contest Wrestling podcast, dispelling rumors about Punk’s controversial reputation.

Initially uncertain about what to expect, Williams described Punk as “genuine” and a “solid” individual who takes pride in mentoring younger talent.

Williams highlighted Punk’s guidance on both in-ring performance and navigating challenges like social media, noting that his advice has been invaluable for today’s wrestlers.

Punk’s dedication to helping the next generation become superstars has left a strong impression on Williams and others in WWE.

Here’s what the NXT Champion said:

“I didn’t meet CM Punk until after the rumors about his character were brought about from other places.

All I’m gonna say is that dude, Punk, man, good dude, like, solid. You can just tell when some people are just genuine, and he’s very genuine.

He takes pride in helping us, the next generation, to become the superstars that we need to be. He gives us real advice, too; he talks about how to handle yourself, in the ring, outside the ring, with everything it takes to become a superstar.

Even closer to today’s time when we are dealing with different stuff, like social media and how to handle everything that comes with being a superstar in 2024 that other other superstars didn’t really have to deal with all the way. He’s been very helpful for a lot of us.”
