Saraya, one of All Elite Wrestling’s most prominent stars, has officially parted ways with the company, a move that has sent ripples through the wrestling community.
The former AEW Women’s World Champion announced her departure on her podcast, Rulebreakers with Saraya, marking the end of her nearly three-year tenure with the promotion.
According to Saraya, she and AEW mutually agreed to part ways, a sentiment echoed by her management team when contacted by Fightful Select. “I can confirm we’ve mutually agreed to part ways. Her services have been fulfilled, and we are parting on excellent terms,” her team stated.
When pressed for further details, they clarified that Saraya is now a free agent, opening the door for potential new opportunities in her wrestling career. Despite the amicable nature of the split, the news came as a shock to most within AEW. Sources indicate that Saraya had only informed a small circle of people about her impending departure as of the previous week, leaving much of the roster and backstage personnel blindsided by the announcement.
Adding to the confusion, Saraya is still listed on AEW’s official website roster as of March 27, 2025, which is typically a reliable indicator of a wrestler’s contract status. This discrepancy has led to some uncertainty among fans and insiders alike, though it’s not uncommon for roster updates to lag behind official announcements. The unexpected nature of her exit has prompted a flurry of inquiries regarding her status, with many wondering what led to the decision and what her next move might be.
Saraya, formerly known as Paige in WWE, joined AEW in September 2022, making her debut at the Grand Slam episode of Dynamite. Her arrival was a significant moment for the company, as she brought with her a wealth of experience and a passionate fanbase from her time in WWE, where she had been a trailblazer in the women’s division before retiring from in-ring competition in 2018 due to a neck injury.
Her return to wrestling in AEW was a triumphant one, culminating in her capturing the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In 2023 at Wembley Stadium. Saraya’s run in AEW, however, was not without its challenges. She lost the title to Hikaru Shida just two months later and has been absent from AEW television since October 2024, with her last singles match being a loss to Jamie Hayter at Grand Slam on September 25, 2024.
