Drew McIntyre has revealed he plans to leave WWE for good when his in-ring career ends, and he won’t be sticking around for coaching roles or nostalgia appearances. Speaking to Sports Illustrated, McIntyre made it clear that once he walks away, he’s gone for good. “When I’m gone, I’ll be gone. You won’t see me showing up in some spin-off WWE shows like, ‘Please watch me. Please remember me,’” McIntyre said. “I’m going to make sure I do everything I want to do, make my mark, because when I’m gone, everyone forgets.”

He noted how the nonstop nature of WWE’s 52-week schedule leaves little room for memories to linger once a star disappears from TV. “It’s not the fans’ fault. The product’s 52 weeks a year, no reruns, no offseason. If you’re out of sight, you’re out of mind. And it’s taken me 20 years to realize that,” he said.

McIntyre also ruled out transitioning to a behind-the-scenes role after retiring from the ring. “You won’t see Drew as a coach on any show. You won’t see Drew popping up here and there looking for a little bit of nostalgia, looking to scratch that itch,” he said.

Instead, McIntyre insists he’s focused on securing his legacy in WWE now while he’s still active. “I’m getting what’s mine right now,” he declared.

Drew McIntyre Says 3MB Reunion Will Happen

During this same interview, McIntyre confirmed that fans haven’t seen the last of 3MB. McIntyre revealed that he plans to reunite with his former stablemates, Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater, before he hangs up his boots for good.

“There’s going to be (a reunion). I tell Heath and Jinder all the time,” McIntyre said. “I’m going to do what I’ve got to do. I’m going to, as I mentioned, get what’s mine, but eventually when I feel like it’s getting close to time, you know, I’m about to say goodbye, that’s when I throw my mates a bone. We reform 3MB.”

However, McIntyre made it clear he won’t be the one taking the punishment in the ring during the nostalgic comeback.

“I don’t take any bumps. Heath takes all the bumps. Jinder might take a few in there. I’ll stand on the apron, air guitar like hell, have a good old time,” he said.

McIntyre reflected on how fans have grown fonder of the group over time, with many who were kids during 3MB’s run now expressing genuine nostalgia.

“The fun thing about nostalgia is everyone believes we’re like The Shield,” he joked. “The way I talk to people when I’m out meeting all the fans at all the big events, (they’re like) ‘God, I love 3MB. You guys were amazing.’ And they mean it. I can tell when somebody’s lying or not.”

He said the reunion would be his way of giving both fans and his friends one last memorable moment – and a payday – before he rides off into the sunset.

“I’ll give everybody a treat. I’ll give my boys a payday and boom, I’ll disappear into the night, never to be seen again.”
