Mercedes Mone Reacts To Naomi Becoming The Women’s World Champion

WWE’s all-women’s PLE “Evolution 2” took place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Stephanie McMahon kicked off the show and told Joe Tessitore that she’s really looking forward to the No Holds Barred match between Jade Cargill and Naomi. Lilian Garcia pulled out of tonight’s PLE due to a respiratory infection. Alicia Taylor is the ring announcer. The show kicked off with the Triple Threat Match for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. After good back and forth action, Becky pinned Bayley to retain the Title.

Up next is the NXT Women’s Championship match. Jacy Jayne came out with Fatal Influence by her side, while Jordynne Grace is accompanied by Blake Monroe (fka Mariah May in AEW). Blake pinned Jacy at yesterday’s NXT The Great American Bash event.

During the match, Fallon Henley passed the NXT Title to Jacy in the ring, which led to Blake taking out Fallon with a headbutt. Blake took out Jazmyn Nyx as well. Blake then turned heel and hit Jordynne in the back with the NXT Title belt, allowing Jacy to pin Grace.

Blake handed Jacy the title after the match and left.

Up next is the Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Raquel & Roxanne ended up retaining the titles after Raquel pinned Sol Ruca. Fans chanted “We Want Charlotte” during the match.

Up next is the WWE Women’s Championship match. This is Trish Stratus’ first women’s title match in 19 years. The Attitude Era legend is looking to become an 8-time Women’s Champion. After impressive back & forth action, Tiffany hit the Prettiest Moonsault on Trish for the win. Trish also went for her own Moonsault before this, but Tiffany got her knees up.

In the No Holds Barred match, Jade Cargill picked up the win by hitting her finisher on Naomi through a table from the second rope.

Up next is the #1 Contender’s Battle Royal. Zelina Vega showcased a darker personality during this match and eliminated Women’s United States Champion Giulia. Kelani Jordan saved herself from elimination in an impressive way:

Nikki Bella eliminated Chelsea Green and Lash Legend eliminated Nikki. The final 3 women are Stephanie Vaquer, Nia Jax and Lash. Stephanie & Lash teamed up to eliminate Nia. Stephanie hit Lash with the Devil’s Kiss on the ring apron to eliminate her and win the match.

Stephanie McMahon interviewed Vaquer after the match. Vaquer said this is difficult for her because English isn’t her first language, but wrestling is her first language. Vaquer said fans will never forget her name and thanked every woman for paving the way for Evolution. McMahon raised Vaquer’s hand as pyro went off.

Up next is the main event of the evening and it is for the Women’s World Championship. Rhea Ripley has never defeated IYO SKY – that’s the story heading into this match. After back & forth action, Rhea had IYO beat after hitting the Riptide, but the referee was accidentally knocked out by IYO a few seconds earlier. Towards the end, Naomi ran out to cash-in her Money In The Bank contract and won by pinning IYO!
