• Why Bruce Prichard Was “Begging” CM Punk During RAW’s Netflix Debut
CM Punk says confusion behind the scenes during WWE RAW’s Netflix debut led to his main event match against Seth Rollins running over its time, despite his efforts to stay on schedule. In an interview on My Mom’s Basement podcast, Punk recalled being caught in the chaos of WWE’s first Netflix taping. “I thought I hit my time,” he said. “Bruce (Prichard) was begging me. He’s like, ‘Get us out at this time.’ And I was like, ‘No problem, man.’”
Punk claimed he made major cuts to his match to meet the timing. “I wound up cutting a ton of stuff. They mentioned the stuff you cut. It’s real inside baseball. I hate it.”
He added that the Netflix setting gave some backstage the wrong idea. “Because that was the first Netflix show, everybody had this super lackadaisical like ‘we’re on Netflix.’ Everyone thinks we could go three or four hours. We can’t.”
Punk stressed the importance of keeping shows tight. “To me a show length is pretty paramount. Like I don’t want to do anything for three hours. I don’t care if it’s my favorite movie. You could always find ways to trim the fat.”
