• Matt Riddle Reveals His Weekly WWE Pay
Matt Riddle didn’t shy away from talking money during his appearance on TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast. The former UFC fighter and ex-WWE star revealed just how lucrative his run with WWE was compared to opportunities outside the company.
Reflecting on his exit from WWE and later talks with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Riddle explained that the numbers simply didn’t compare.
“To be fair, dude, when I’m in WWE and I’m making like $20,000 a week and I’m a top guy, it’s like… and you get fired – trust me, Dolph (Ziggler) was getting paid the same as me. So was (Mustafa) Ali. So was everybody. But then I know they’ve all taken hits.”
Riddle admitted he considered New Japan bookings, but ultimately couldn’t reconcile the lower offers compared to what he was used to earning in WWE.
He described how NJPW initially offered him a strong push, but when negotiations came down to money, things fell apart:
“They threw titles on us right away. And then they were kind of like, ‘Oh, can you work for this much?’ And I was like, ‘No, I can’t work for this much.’”
While he was clear that he holds “no ill will” toward New Japan, Riddle said the financial gap was too big to ignore.
