• Top Champion Will Never Leave AEW: “I could do another 20 years with AEW”
Toni Storm joined AEW in 2022 after having a frustrating run on the main roster in WWE. She has become one of the biggest stars in the company after reinventing herself with the “Timeless” gimmick.
The AEW Women’s World Champion is enjoying her time in Tony Khan’s promotion. In an interview on The Sandman Podcast, she said that she will end her pro wrestling career in the company and doesn’t plan to go anywhere else afterwards.
“When I’m done wrestling, you’ll never see me again. You’ll never see me in any other capacity, or in any other company for that matter. There’s no encore. This is it. I’m not doing anything else.
Where would I go? What would I do? Because I’m on a long deal for AEW. I signed my life to AEW. I’m on a five-year deal and I can’t remember how long – but I’m a lifer for AEW. There’s no like, oh, well, I’ll see what happens.
And that’s no offense to them (WWE). I think they’re great. And I understand them for exactly what they are. They’re a machine. They’re a business, and I just don’t fit in with their whole shtick. And that’s cool. I love a lot of the people that work there. It’s like, yes, get that money. Get that power. But realistically, in my life, like, that’s it. How long can I do this? I don’t know. But I could do another 20 years with AEW.”
Storm’s AEW contract will expire around March 2027.
• “Trash. He’s one of the worst people I’ve been in the ring with” – AEW Star On The Great Khali
The Great Khali’s WWE run was a real roller coaster. He debuted in 2006 by taking out The Undertaker and quickly became one of the most intimidating superstars. His 2007 World Heavyweight Championship win made him a global star and a hero in India. Later, he showed a fun side, dancing and entertaining fans, proving he was more than just a monster.
While speaking on the Marking Out podcast, MVP talked about wrestling The Great Khali and criticized the giant’s work in the ring. He said that the former World Heavyweight Champion’s chop was very painful and apparently gave him a concussion.
“That chop to the head that he used to give… In our business, we have the term a ‘work.’ There was no work to that big thick acromegaly bone to the head. He would literally drop that big a$$ 20-pound soup bone on your head. I’m pretty sure that I got at least one minor concussion from one of those.
His other finish – the two-handed powerbomb drop. Oh. Oh, brother. I’m like, yo, my man, don’t somebody teach this [guy] to work?”
He added that while Khali was not great as an opponent in the ring, he was good company to have backstage.
“He’s one of the worst people I’ve ever been in the ring with as a wrestler. But behind the scenes? What a funny guy. I actually enjoyed his company. I used to mess with him all the time. Rib him mercilessly.”
MVP also clarified that his comments had nothing to do with The Great Khali’s nationality.
“Now I know there’s a billion people in India that hate me. But that’s okay – I don’t care. Because I will tell you the modern-day Maharaja, that [guy] is dope. He’s raw. I was very happy to see him become WWE Champion. But The Great Khali? Trash.”
• Top Star Thinks WWE Counterprogramming AEW Is Great
WWE has repeatedly countered AEW’s programming since the Jacksonville-based company launched, and reports suggest that it plans to adopt an even more aggressive strategy in 2026.
While speaking on The Sandman Podcast, Toni Storm gave her opinion on the WWE vs. AEW competition and said that it is a great thing.
“I think it’s great. Come on, fight me. Be a bit weird of them as a large corporation to just do nothing. It’d be a silly business decision not to. Of course they will. It’s their job.”
The AEW Women’s World Champion parted ways with WWE in 2021 after being frustrated over her creative direction in the company. She has become one of the biggest names in AEW since joining the promotion in 2022.
• Massive Name Could Attend John Cena’s Final Match
There are only 6 dates left in the John Cena Retirement Tour. The 17-time World Champion’s last appearance was on last night’s RAW in Springfield. His next appearance will be a match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza in Indianapolis on September 20th this Saturday.
Cena’s final match will take place at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C.
According to the Wrestling Observer, U.S. President Donald Trump could be in attendance for the legend’s final match. It will be difficult but “not impossible”, as per the report.
On the same day, the President is scheduled to attend the Army vs. Navy football game at 3 PM EST in Baltimore, which is not far from the capital.
Trump, who is a WWE Hall of Famer, appeared in the company in the past and feuded with Vince McMahon. He recently invited Triple H to the White House to announce the revival of the Presidential Fitness Test in public schools.
