• SmackDown Star Reveals He Was Meant To Have The 1st Failed MITB Cash-In
The Miz is one of the few stars to have the honor of becoming Mr. Money In The Bank twice in his career. Both of his cash-in attempts were successful, the first against Randy Orton in 2010 and the second against Drew McIntyre in 2021. He walked out as WWE Champion both times.
However, history could have been very different. The Miz recently revealed that WWE originally planned for him to fail his first Money In The Bank cash-in.
Here’s what he said during an interview on the Unlikely podcast:
“I was the guy that was going to cash-in and lose. That was just my trajectory, the first time, the first person to ever cash-in and lose. That’s something that The Miz would do, that is that character, that is what would happen.”
Everything changed at the last minute, according to the A-Lister.
“That day I walked in, I remember sitting down and hearing, ‘You’re going over tonight.’ ‘Wait, what?’ ‘You’re winning the WWE Championship.’ And by the way, this is close, not close, but close enough to WrestleMania.
I remember cashing-in. I remember going out, and I remember going up against Randy Orton and beating Randy Orton, and I remember just all the emotions that fulfill you. I remember tears kind of, but I was like, ‘Nah, I can’t let tears out because I’m a man and I’m a WWE Champion, and I can’t be crying.’ But it was a cool, surreal moment that you can’t explain.”
The first wrestler to have an unsuccessful Money In The Bank cash-in ended up being John Cena in 2012 at RAW 1000.
• “Vince McMahon fought for women to have more visibility in Saudi Arabia” – RAW Star
WWE signed a 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia in 2018 under which the company is obliged to hold two Premium Live Events in the kingdom every year. They have also started hosting episodes of RAW and SmackDown there in recent years.
At the start of the deal, the PLEs in Saudi Arabia did not feature women’s wrestling. However, that changed a year later. Natalya and Lacey Evans became the first two female stars to compete in the country at Crown Jewel 2019.
While speaking to Ring The Belle, Natalya credited former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon for the opportunities women got in Saudi Arabia. Here’s what she said:
“I just feel like the women have come such a long way, and Vince McMahon gave me so many opportunities. The Saudi Arabia match, I said to Vince McMahon, when WWE first started doing stuff in Saudi Arabia, I said, ‘Vince, I really want to go. I want to be the first woman to wrestle in Saudi Arabia.’
Vince made it happen. I think Vince really wanted women to wrestle there, too, and he really wanted us to have more visibility there, to be able to do what we love. So I will always be so grateful to Vince for that moment, because he fought for the women to have more visibility in Saudi Arabia. He had to fight. So, look at us now.”
The WWE-Saudi Arabia deal has come a long way as the company will hold a WrestleMania in the kingdom in 2027.
