• Dolph Ziggler Threatened To Quit WWE Over SummerSlam 2019 Match With Goldberg
Nic Nemeth (fka Dolph Ziggler in WWE) took aim at Goldberg for a long time in the summer of 2019, which eventually led to the two men facing off at SummerSlam.
However, Nemeth almost walked away from WWE as he was unhappy with the way the match was booked. He felt it left him with nothing meaningful to do in the ring.
Here’s what he said on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet:
“I was told no, ding, ding, ding, Spear, Jackhammer. I said, ‘Vince, why am I in this match when anybody could take a Spear and a Jackhammer?’ I go, ‘If I can’t be in this match doing something, then I have to leave this company right now.’ If this is purely for a scarecrow to take a Spear and a Jackhammer, I don’t want to work here.
I’m fighting. I’m like, it should be something. I should kick him. I should hit him with my finish. I should do something. There should be something other than a bell, because then there’s no little ride.
Finally it was a Superkick on the bell, get a false out of it. Superkick him again, and then get broken in half. And I go, ‘Yeah, okay, that’s something, at least.’”
Goldberg ended up winning the match in under two minutes, with Nemeth getting very little offense.

Santos Escobar’s WWE contract expired earlier this week and it seemed like he’d part ways with the company. However, that did not happen as he later came to an agreement with the Stamford-based promotion after receiving a better offer.
According to Bodyslam+, WWE had big plans for the 41-year-old. He was reportedly set to defeat El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship, with Los Garza holding the AAA World Tag Team Titles at the same time.
That was the plan under discussion before creative changes were made. In the end, Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio ended up being the one to dethrone Vikingo, thus becoming a double champion.
