• John Cena Made The Decision To Change Plans For His Retirement Night

John Cena is making sure his farewell to WWE ends on his own terms. The 17-time World Champion will wrestle his final match at the December 13th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. and it will be against the winner of the ongoing Last Time Is Now tournament.

During the opening segment of last night’s RAW, Cena revealed that his retirement night will feature WWE Main Roster vs. NXT exhibition matches, giving the next generation of Superstars a rare spotlight on a main-event stage.

According to the Wrestling Observer, the idea to include NXT talent on Saturday Night’s Main Event was Cena’s own suggestion. The 48-year-old reportedly wanted to use his final WWE show to highlight the performers shaping the company’s future, instead of having usual storyline matches with RAW and SmackDown wrestlers.

Cena has developed a strong connection with WWE’s developmental system over the past few months. He made two separate visits to the WWE Performance Center in October, where he trained with and mentored young wrestlers. Those sessions reportedly left a big impression on Cena – so much so that he asked for NXT stars to share the spotlight on his farewell card.

Following his second visit to the Performance Center, Cena took to social media to praise WWE’s rising talent for their passion and humility. He wrote about the importance of being “coachable” and said he had spent days reflecting on the feedback and lessons he’d learned from the developmental roster:

“Being coachable can open our minds to learn. Thank you to all the superstars at the WWE PC for sharing with me different perspectives of our business. I spent the week digesting their feedback & was grateful to be able to return today for another chance to learn & share wisdom.”

• Spoiler On John Cena’s Next Move After Intercontinental Title Win

As seen on last night’s RAW, the Men’s WarGames Match for Survivor Series 2025 was made official, as Team CM Punk (which currently consists of Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso) will take on Team Vision (which currently consists of Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Logan Paul).

According to Ibou of Self Made, John Cena will join Team CM Punk for this WarGames Match. Cena has never competed in a WarGames match before, and this is going to be the final PLE match of his WWE career.

Cena defeated Dominik Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Championship on last night’s RAW, thus becoming a Grand Slam Champion.

Speaking of the WarGames match, Roman Reigns is also expected to be on Punk’s team. On The Vision’s team, names like Brock Lesnar and Austin Theory were rumored to join (this was reported before Seth Rollins got injured).
