The booty shake has long been a signature part of WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella’s entrance, designed to grab attention and engage the crowd from the moment she walks out.
Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Nikki reflected on how the move came to be.
“It was like, you know, that’s honestly how I came up with the booty shake. Back then it was only network TV, and they were so sh*tty to women. I just knew I needed to get attention the minute I walked out. Twins got attention, but how else could we stand out?
Brie and I had a talk with Dr. Tom, and then the backflip, the pose… it was all just to get attention, engage the crowd, and make someone maybe stop the channel. And I guess back then we went with the booty shake because that’s what got eyes on women – and now I can’t ever let go of it. Booty shake is timeless.”
Nikki also admitted that it’s become more challenging to do the booty shake over the years.
“It’s getting harder and harder though. I’m like, why are the hips not moving like they used to? Sometimes when it feels tough I’m like, shoot, I need to stretch the hips more – like those backbends to walk around with.
And you know what I realized? I hit the booty shake when there’s a certain beat in the song, but now the walk is further. Yeah, it’s different. So I’m like, I either need to cheat a little and not start right behind the black curtain… maybe take a few steps in front of it and then go.”

Nikki Bella Set To Increase Her Implants Size Soon
Nikki Bella is pushing through one of the toughest physical stretches of her career, and for the first time, she’s opening up about the painful injury that left her shaken this summer – including a dislocated breast implant and complications that made everyday tasks agonizing.
During her interview with Entertainment Tonight, Nikki recounted the frightening moment from July when a wrestling mishap suddenly left her body in turmoil. “I pretty much have broke my neck and bruised ribs have been the most painful injury I’ve ever had… sleeping hurts, getting up hurts, walking hurts, breathing everything hurts so it was the impact.”
Doctors warned her even simple bodily reactions could make things worse. “They tell you try not to sneeze and cough as much as possible because that reinjures.”
Despite the severity of the pain, she still underwent an MRI to assess whether the implant damage required urgent surgery – and what doctors found surprised her: “What’s crazy is I did an MRI and they were like, ‘Well, you got some good bags in there because it was a-ok.’”
Although the implant survived the impact, the scan showed noticeable movement. “It looks like there’s a little bit of a shift, which is good because… my pec muscle was holding in a broken one.”
That wasn’t the first time Nikki’s implants had presented unexpected issues. She explained that during a previous revision surgery, surgeons discovered a shockingly positioned ruptured implant: “When I had them redone a few years ago… actually my pec muscle was holding in a broken one. It was crazy.”
After years of surgeries, injuries, and the physical demands of returning to the ring, Nikki admits she originally downsized her implants for practical reasons – but now feels differently.
“I think I was just tired. I was like, ‘Well, I want to go a size smaller. I’m a mom now.’ Now, I want to go back to a size bigger.”
She says this recent incident has given her clarity: “I was like, now I have the perfect excuse. When the time is right, I’m going to get it fixed and I’m going to go back to my old size.”
During this same interview, Nikki revealed that she will retire after her current WWE run ends:
“I know that however long this run is – a year, two years – it will be my last and final. In our industry, you never want to say never but I’m just being realistic.
I started with her (Brie Bella) and I wanna end with her. I know everyone wants it and I think it would be really cool for the fans and as well for this new era.”
