• Current Plan For The Women’s U.S. Title Match At WrestleMania 42
As of February, WWE had the Women’s United States Championship penciled in for WrestleMania 42. Giulia is set to defend the title against Tiffany Stratton, according to Bodyslam.
Self Made Pro recently revealed the original plan was a triple threat match featuring champion Giulia, Tiffany Stratton, and Jordynne Grace for the Women’s U.S. Title. This would have given all three a big spotlight on the grandest stage of them all. However, Jordynne Grace suffered a real ankle injury during a WWE Main Event taping against Alba Fyre right before the March 6th episode of SmackDown.
She twisted her ankle awkwardly on a landing, needed medical help, and was seen in a wheelchair and walking boot afterward. Grace posted about her “ankle glitching” and being “ankle sisters” with the also-injured Chelsea Green. The severity isn’t fully clear, but it has sidelined her and likely scrapped the triple threat idea. With Grace out, plans appear to be shifting back to a singles match between Giulia and Tiffany Stratton.
Some reports suggested that WWE considered building toward Giulia vs. IYO SKY for the Women’s U.S. Title at WrestleMania instead. This stemmed from WWE canceling a planned IYO SKY vs. Giulia match on SmackDown for “creative reasons” to save it for a bigger stage like Mania, positioning IYO for a major singles role.
These are still fluid plans as WrestleMania 42 nears, with WWE aiming for a record number of women’s matches.
