• “We’ve been held back a little bit” – WWE Star
On their podcast, The Bella Twins claimed they were held back in WWE in the past. This happened because of the era they worked in. Back then, WWE called its female wrestlers “Divas.” The focus was more on looks, short matches, and entertainment rather than strong in-ring skills or long storylines.
The company asked the Bellas and other women to do different things. These included modeling, reality TV segments, and roles that fit the “Divas” style. It was not always about top-level wrestling.
The Bellas noted this was just how things were at the time. It was not mean or personal. The women’s division was different.
Now, things have changed a lot. Women get longer matches, better stories, and real competition. Nikki and Brie feel the old era limited them somewhat. But they evolved with the changes and stayed part of WWE’s growth.
Today, in 2026, they are back and chasing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. They see this as a chance to show what they can do in the current era.
Here’s what Brie Bella said:
“We for sure have to prove ourselves that we can hang in this era. This era is no joke, but I think people sometimes underestimate us. We’ve been held back a little bit. And I say that in a nice way, not like there was anything mean. It was just there was different things asked of us. And that’s why you can’t get mad at like some of the women in the past. They were asked to do certain things, so they did it. And that was just what people wanted back then, you know? It was different times.”
• WWE’s Original Plan For Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton Feud
The Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton feud has officially kicked off. The former Legacy faction members will collide in the main event of WrestleMania 42 – Night 1 with the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE’s original plan for Cody vs. Randy was for this feud to take place after WrestleMania 42:
“The Bronson Reed injury for whatever reason was the clincher of the idea to go with Rhodes vs. Orton and McIntyre vs. Fatu in singles matches. Rhodes vs. Orton was always the direction, but originally that was planned as Rhodes’ major program after WrestleMania 42.”
Orton turned heel on last week’s SmackDown and brutally assaulted The American Nightmare after signing the contract for their match. Orton will explain his actions on tonight’s episode.
