• WWE Dropped Major Title Plan For Je’Von Evans
Je’Von Evans began his pro wrestling career in 2018 and signed with WWE five years later after making a name for himself on the independent scene. He was quickly positioned as a future top star in NXT, but his performances impressed WWE officials so much that he was called up to the main roster earlier than originally planned.
According to Cory Hays of Bodyslam, Evans was originally scheduled to dethrone Oba Femi for the NXT Championship, but both men were ultimately called up to RAW instead. Femi defeated TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater at New Year’s Evil before vacating the title.
In an interview with Ringer Wrestling, NXT Head Booker Shawn Michaels said he was eager to keep Evans in developmental, but was overruled.
“Not forever because you’re not doing a good job if you got them forever. But certainly, Je’Von obviously was somebody… I was begging like, ‘Can we just keep him for another six months?’
From an NXT standpoint, we were in our minds going to build around Je’Von for the next year, and that was kind of the model. And they’re like, ‘Oh, no, we’re taking him, too.’ I pushed back a little bit and was like, ‘Just six months?’ ‘No.’ Three?’ ‘No.’ Alright, fair enough.
If that’s the worst news you have to have is that they’re taking too many of your people, that means we’re doing a pretty good job. And that’s something that we always have to remember.”
Evans is now set to compete in the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania 42 next weekend, while Femi is scheduled for a major showdown with Brock Lesnar.

• Reason Behind AEW Dropping Chris Jericho’s First Name
After being off television for a year, Chris Jericho made his return to All Elite Wrestling over a week ago. He signed a multi-year deal with the company on this week’s episode of Dynamite.
During his return entrance, fans noticed that the titantron only displayed the name “Jericho” instead of “Chris Jericho.”AEW also promoted his segment for the latest Dynamite simply as “Jericho will address his return”, and the on-screen graphic during his entrance followed the same presentation.

According to Fightful Select, the decision to refer to him simply as “Jericho” was made at Chris Jericho’s own request, although he will still be referred to with his full name at times on AEW programming.
The first ever AEW World Champion will face Ricochet in his return match tomorrow night at Dynasty.
