• Backstage Reaction To Brock Lesnar’s Shocking Retirement

Brock Lesnar’s in-ring career seemingly ended at WrestleMania 42 – Night 2 after a loss to Oba Femi. The Ruler controlled most of the match, while The Beast Incarnate managed a brief comeback and even hit an F5, but it wasn’t enough as Femi recovered quickly and put him away with a Chokeslam followed by a Fall From Grace.

After the match, Lesnar removed his gloves and boots and left them in the ring, a traditional sign of retirement. He then kissed the ring mat before walking out of the Allegiant Stadium alongside an emotional Paul Heyman, as the crowd showed their gratitude.

According to Fightful Select, the initial backstage reaction within WWE was one of surprise, as many had believed Lesnar would retire at SummerSlam 2026.

This is because this year’s SummerSlam will take place in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It had also been rumored for a while that he would be a victim of GUNTHER, who has transformed into The Career Killer over the past year after retiring Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles.

• How Cody Rhodes Hurt His Eye At WrestleMania 42 Revealed

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton went to war in the main event of WrestleMania 42 – Night 1. The match ended with Orton taking out Pat McAfee before ultimately losing to Rhodes.

After the match, Orton blindsided Rhodes and laid him out with a Punt Kick. The Undisputed WWE Champion was later seen being checked on by WWE’s medical staff backstage after suffering an eye injury during the bout.

According to PWInsider, Rhodes’ injury was caused by a punch from Orton just before Orton hit an RKO on Charles Robinson, with his eye swelling up following the match.

As noted before, Rhodes also required multiple staples in his head. WWE has since stated that he is currently not medically cleared to compete due to an orbital injury, and there is no timetable for his return.
