• Backstage News On Brock Lesnar’s Retirement & SummerSlam Return Rumors
Brock Lesnar might have finally called it quits after a symbolic moment at WrestleMania 42. The Beast left his gloves and boots in the middle of the ring on Sunday night, a move traditionally used by wrestlers to signal their retirement.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, many people backstage believe this was a genuine goodbye from the former WWE & UFC Champion.
While the retirement seems likely, some in the industry aren’t convinced just yet. There is still talk that Lesnar could return for one last match at SummerSlam 2026 in his hometown of Minneapolis. Because he has a long history and deep roots with this place and event, some believe he’ll want one more final payday before walking away for good.
At least one source within WWE mentioned they are still hoping to get him on the card for later this year, though nothing is set in stone.
For now, Lesnar hasn’t made an official announcement. Whether that WrestleMania moment was a true farewell or just a temporary exit, he’s left the door open for plenty of speculation as the summer approaches.
• John Cena Teases Another PLE Appearance After WrestleMania 42
John Cena returned to WWE programming this past weekend as the Host of WrestleMania 42. It looks like we might see the 17-time World Champion at another premium live event.
After Complex incorrectly wished Cena a happy 45th birthday today, Cena replied:
“Man if only it were 2023 again!! I might have different business at WWE #Backlash Alas, the years pass. I am still gonna try to do something epic in Tampa for 5/9. I promised Club WWE something special… stay tuned.”
WWE Backlash 2026 takes place on May 9th in Tampa, Florida.
