SmackDown Results – 2 Returns, Royce Keys Suffers 1st Loss, Clash In Italy Main Event Revealed

Below are the results from tonight’s post-Backlash edition of SmackDown, featuring the returns of Carmelo Hayes and Chelsea Green.

– Trick Williams, along with Lil Yachty, celebrated his United States Title defense against Sami Zayn at Backlash. The Miz and Kit Wilson interrupted and said that Trick keeps bringing in mascots and is making SmackDown look like Sesame Street and questioned when is he bringing in Big Bird. Kit did slam poetry on Trick and Yachty. Lil Yachty did a rap against Miz and mocked him for having tiny balls. Miz said he won’t allow them to embarrass him with lies and challenged Trick to a match. Trick laid out both Miz and Kit.

– United States Champion Trick Williams def. The Miz

Lil Yachty attacked Kit Wilson with a kendo stick during the match.

– Sami Zayn met Nick Aldis backstage and requested a rematch against Trick Williams for the United States Championship. Aldis declined and said Sami must earn another title opportunity.

– Former United States Champion Carmelo Hayes returned to WWE TV. He will face Ricky Saints tonight and had a backstage confrontation with him. Hayes said he will humble Saints tonight.

– WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Paige and Brie Bella def. Giulia and Kiana James

Prior to the match, The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend) met Paige and Brie backstage and told them that they will face them for the titles on Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23.

– Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton told Chelsea Green that they will never team together. This was Chelsea’s return to WWE TV from her heart procedure.

– Gunther hesitated in signing his guaranteed Undisputed WWE Championship match contract (favor by Paul Heyman), which led to Royce Keys coming out and trying to jump the line for a title match. Gunther stopped Royce from signing the contract. Nick Aldis came out and booked Gunther vs. Royce Keys in a #1 Contender’s Match tonight, with the winner facing Cody Rhodes for the WWE Title at Clash In Italy on May 31.

– Carmelo Hayes def. Ricky Saints using the bottom rope

– Talla Tonga attacked Shinsuke Nakamura for talking to Tama Tonga.

– Danhausen is making something bigger and better after the cloning malfunction at Backlash.

– WWE Tag Team Champion Damian Priest def. Tama Tonga

Talla Tonga and Solo Sikoa attacked Priest after the match.

– Jade Cargill challenged Rhea Ripley to a rematch for the WWE Women’s Championship at Clash In Italy.

– Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss def. Michin and B-Fab via DQ after Jade Cargill attacked Alexa

After the match, Charlotte laid out Michin and challenged Cargill to fight her.

– Fatal Influence said loyalty is their currency and all the women in the division will fall in front of them.

– Alexa Bliss told Charlotte Flair that they are outnumbered and need help.

– Solo Sikoa advised Royce Keys to follow him, so they can run SmackDown together.

– WWE announced that Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab will take on Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley in a 6-woman tag team match on Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23.

– Gunther def. Royce Keys to earn an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at Clash In Italy on May 31

During the ending moments of the match, the referee accidentally got knocked out. Solo Sikoa passed a steel chair to Royce, but Royce threw it at Solo and hit him in the head. Gunther took advantage and hit a powerbomb on Royce for the win. This was Royce’s first loss in WWE. After the match, Cody laid out The Ring General with a Cross Rhodes to end the show.
