• SmackDown Star May Never Wrestle Again

Piper Niven has been sidelined with a serious neck injury and has not competed since the August 22, 2025 episode of WWE SmackDown, where she picked up a win over Charlotte Flair.

The former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion has since undergone an anterior discectomy procedure as she continues her recovery.

Earlier reports suggested the injury could potentially be career-threatening, although there was still optimism at the time that she could eventually return to the ring.

After a recent livestream, a fan posted a message thanking Niven for her career and expressing concern over her future in wrestling.

“After watching Piper’s stream yesterday and knowing she potentially can’t wrestle again, I just want to say thank you piper for being the amazing human being you are and the years of kindness you have shown! Slaygent & Doudrop will live on❤️ cheers to the memories”

Niven responded directly, clarifying that nothing is confirmed regarding her in-ring future. She explained that while a return is still possible, there is also a chance she may never wrestle again, and she simply wants to manage expectations given the long recovery process.

“Don’t count me out just yet chick, just letting people know that it will be a long time and maybe possibly not at all so we don’t have to answer the same question 50 times a stream 😉 x”

CM Punk returned to professional wrestling in 2021 when he debuted in All Elite Wrestling. However, his run with the company ended in 2023 following a series of backstage issues involving multiple wrestlers, including “Jungle” Jack Perry.

The problems between Punk and Perry began after a disagreement over Perry wanting to use real glass during a segment. The situation escalated at All In 2023 when Perry took a shot at Punk on live television, which was followed by a backstage altercation between the two.

Earlier this week, rumors circulated that Punk could be unhappy in WWE and potentially on his way out of the company. Those reports were later shut down, but they sparked speculation about whether Punk could one day return to AEW.

Adding fuel to that discussion, Fightful Select reported that there is a belief within AEW that Punk could eventually repair his relationship with the company. When sources were asked whether Punk had permanently burned his bridge with AEW, the response was: “Never say never.”

Perry does not appear to share that view. The former TNT Champion took to Instagram and posted an image of a monkey holding a burning torch next to a destroyed bridge.

While Perry did not directly mention Punk, many fans interpreted the post as a response to the recent reports, with Perry seemingly suggesting that the bridge between the two sides has already been burned.
