Clark was released by WWE in May 2021. In 2020, he denied allegations of inappropriate contact with a minor after being accused on social media. During the Speaking Out movement later that year, pro wrestler Joshua Fuller also accused him of inappropriate contact with a minor and grooming.
Clark was arrested in Orlando, Florida, on August 26, 2022, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest followed an August 20, 2022 incident at a gym in Florida where he allegedly punched and bit an employee.
He also pushed for a WWE return in 2025, but was not signed.
• WWE Is Fully Committed To RAW Star’s Push
WWE is firmly backing Austin Theory during his latest main roster push, with internal support for the superstar reportedly at a high level.
Speaking on 2 Count Tuesday, Jonathan Coachman revealed that sources inside the company confirmed WWE is “1,000%” behind Theory. Unlike previous starts and stops in his career, WWE management is currently viewing Theory’s latest run as a focused commitment rather than a brief experiment.
Theory’s strong booking has reportedly caused some backstage frustration for Bron Breakker. Coachman stated that Breakker was unhappy with how recent segments were structured, specifically citing an angle designed primarily to showcase Theory before Breakker entered afterward.
WWE creative appears to be taking steps to adjust Breakker’s trajectory. Coachman pointed out that Breakker’s recent confrontations with Oba Femi suggest the company is actively working to move Breakker back into a higher-profile position.
