• Billy Gunn Originally Pitched An Iconic Moment For AEW All In 2023

Billy Gunn’s triumphant night at Wembley Stadium during AEW All In 2023 was memorable in its own right, but it turns out it could have featured an extra splash of nostalgia that fans never got to see (or hear). While Gunn celebrated capturing the AEW World Trios Championship alongside The Acclaimed, there were discussions behind the scenes about making his entrance even more iconic. According to Fightful Select, Gunn was quietly pitching the idea of using his famous “A$$ Man” entrance theme – the cheeky song that became synonymous with his WWE persona years ago.

Despite Gunn’s interest, the plan never gained serious traction. WWE was never formally contacted about securing the rights to the song, and Fightful’s sources claim AEW President Tony Khan wasn’t keen on the idea of directly negotiating a music license with WWE.

Interestingly, Gunn still maintains a business relationship with WWE when it comes to certain merchandise deals. Those familiar with the situation suggested that if discussions had moved forward, there might have been a path to making it happen, but ultimately, the concept fizzled out.

• Top WWE Star Torches CM Punk: I Elevated That Feud – He Was On His A$$ Injured

Drew McIntyre isn’t holding back when it comes to his rivalry with CM Punk. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, McIntyre took credit for elevating their feud, even as Punk spent part of it injured. “Punk’s quote is interesting. He elevates everybody even though he was on his arse injured for half of the feud,” McIntyre said. “Drew McIntyre elevated that feud. Drew McIntyre elevated Punk and put me in the position that he’s not been in since the last time he was in WWE.”

According to McIntyre, it was his own work that made the program a success, and he claimed Punk hasn’t been the same since. “He was just playing CM Punk and he finally became CM Punk with me. And every time I turn it on now, he looks like he’s playing CM Punk again. So, he looks like he misses Drew McIntyre,” McIntyre said.

McIntyre believes the personal tension between them fueled the storyline, and he insisted he outperformed Punk in every way. “You’ve got to have the right opponent to elevate the feud. And CM Punk was somebody that I have personal feelings about. His personal feelings about me. It all came from a real place,” McIntyre said. “I gave… actually I didn’t give as good as I got. I gave better than I got by freaking far. That’s why I won every award that was given out in 2024.”

McIntyre is now back in WWE after several weeks away, promising an evolved version of himself and setting his sights on reclaiming the WWE Championship.
