Despite early fan speculation, Cody Rhodes’ contributions to All Elite Wrestling will be front and center in the company’s upcoming official history book.
AEW is preparing to release “This Book Is All Elite: The Inside Story of All Elite Wrestling” – a project meant to chronicle the company’s rise from its 2019 launch to becoming a major force in pro wrestling. When the book was first announced, social media buzz suggested that Rhodes might be quietly left out of the narrative following his 2022 return to WWE. However, that rumor has now been definitively shut down.
According to Fightful Select, Cody Rhodes is referenced more than 15 times in the book. His name appears in major sections covering All In, Double or Nothing, and Dynamite, as well as discussions about the TNT Championship – a title he helped establish as one of AEW’s cornerstone achievements. The book also revisits his rivalries with MJF, Chris Jericho, Wardlow, and Darby Allin, along with his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title win and eventual departure from the company.
While the specifics surrounding his exit aren’t detailed, the book does include commentary from AEW broadcaster Excalibur, who noted that the promotion had to “find its identity” after Rhodes’ departure – acknowledging his role as a foundational figure in AEW’s early years.
The book doesn’t shy away from other key, and sometimes controversial, names either. CM Punk is reportedly mentioned at least 6 times, though Brawl In and Brawl Out – the backstage altercations that led to his exit – are notably absent.
An AEW source told Fightful that the intent was to recognize everyone who contributed meaningfully to the company’s history. “If people had a significant part in AEW’s history, they’re in it,” the source said, mentioning that even names like Joey Janela and Miro (Rusev) are featured.
Neither Punk nor Rhodes were directly interviewed for the project, though their impact is still thoroughly represented. AEW officials reportedly emphasized from the beginning that no one would be written out of the company’s story – a promise that appears to have been kept.
With its detailed coverage of both celebrated and controversial moments, This Book Is All Elite looks poised to offer fans a balanced and unfiltered chronicle of AEW’s evolution – including the contributions of one of its most important founding figures, current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
