Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring CM Punk, WrestleMania 41, and Apollo Crews.
• As seen during the Men’s Royal Rumble match, CM Punk eliminated both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at the same time. Logan Paul then eliminated Punk. While Reigns was arguing with Punk, Rollins hit Reigns with a double foot stomp from behind. Rollins didn’t stop there and went on to hit another stomp on Reigns, this time on top of the steel ring steps.
On RAW, Michael Cole received a text message from the WWE Doctor saying that he doesn’t have sufficient information on Roman’s injury from the Royal Rumble because The Tribal Chief only lets out the information that he wants out. Cole said all he knows is that Roman will be out of action for the foreseeable future due to Rollins’ attack.
Rollins then came out and said Roman may not make it to WrestleMania at all. Seth said Roman won’t tell the fans the truth, Paul Heyman won’t tell the truth, WWE won’t tell the truth, but Seth said he will because he’s the one that injured Reigns at the Royal Rumble.
Seth then called out Sami Zayn to the ring and motivated him to defeat CM Punk. Seth said Sami is levels above Punk, and wants to see Sami defeat Punk and end Punk’s WrestleMania dream. Punk came out and they almost brawled and had to be separated by referees. Punk then went on to defeat Zayn to qualify for the Men’s Elimination Chamber match.
According to PWInsider, Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat Match is the current plan for WrestleMania 41.
• On the January 24th episode of SmackDown, Apollo Crews defeated WWE Tag Team Champion Johnny Gargano. Crews tore his pec during this match, but still managed to finish it.
He has undergone surgery. Here’s what he posted:
“A few weeks ago on SmackDown, I tore my pec — an unfortunate situation. Sometimes, you do everything right, but there are just some things beyond your control. I’m looking forward to the road ahead, attacking it with a positive and unstoppable mindset.”
