• Jade Cargill Subtly Throws Tiffany Stratton Under The Bus After SmackDown Botch

The main event of SmackDown last week featured Tiffany Stratton defending her WWE Women’s Championship in a Triple-Threat Match against Nia Jax and Jade Cargill.

During the bout, Jax drove Cargill into the steel steps, leaving her busted open. Later in the match, there was another huge botch when Stratton pinned Jax and the referee stopped her count, despite Jax not kicking out.

Now, a fan who was in the arena has provided more context via X. They claimed that Cargill may have been the one at fault, suggesting she missed her spot to pull the referee’s legs to break the pin.

“Jade was supposed to pull her feet. Apparently she must have forgotten because when the ref stopped counting Jade tried to reach out for her legs. In the video you can’t see that angle, but we saw it at the arena. I felt bad for the ref because the arena started screaming ‘Ref you suck.'”

Given that Cargill was already dealing with a cut after being driven into the steps, it is possible that the injury and chaos caused her to forget the spot during the match.

Another fan, however, suggested that Stratton was supposed to steal the win after Cargill hit Jax with the Eye of the Storm. According to them, that was where the match was originally meant to end, but the WWE Women’s Champion being late in driving Cargill out of the ring caused the botched pinfall and forced the finish to be changed.

“Tiffany was late to break up the pin. She was supposed to push Jade out and STEAL the win and that was the end of the match. They’ve done similar finishes at house shows.”

It appears that The Buff Barbie pushing Cargill out of the ring to secure the victory was indeed the planned finish, as Cargill herself liked the tweet making that claim.

Below is a screenshot which shows Cargill’s like on the tweet:

Jax not kicking out may also be an indication that she expected the match to end right there.

• WWE Sparks Outrage In Israel After Announcing “Invasion” On October 7

WWE recently announced a special NXT vs. TNA event called Invasion for October 7. The company likely made it a special show as AEW Dynamite’s special “Title Tuesday” episode will go head-to-head with NXT next week.

The event will feature Survivor Series-style matches for both men and women and a Winner Takes All Match between The Hardy Boyz and DarkState for the TNA and NXT Tag Team Championships.

WWE also announced a rematch between Oba Femi and Trick Williams, though the bout could change after Ricky Starks dethroned Femi as NXT Champion at No Mercy. No official announcement has been made regarding any potential changes to the match yet. It is also unknown if it will be contested under the Winner Takes All stipulation.

Sky News Arabia reports that the announcement of Invasion has angered fans and media in Israel. One commentator in the country called the decision “stupidity and insensitivity” and said that the choice of date and name prompts questioning and reflection. The criticism is linked to the fact that October 7 marks the two-year anniversary of the 2023 Hamas attacks in Israel, making the timing particularly sensitive.

Israeli news outlet Israel Hayom claims that WWE has repeatedly disregarded criticism from Israeli audiences. They pointed to past controversies, including United States Champion Sami Zayn, whose support for Palestine sparked backlash in Israel, but was only addressed after public outcry. Another name who angered the Israelis was CM Punk, who has been very vocal about his support for Palestine.

The outlet also criticized the timing of Invasion on October 7, noting the date carries heavy significance for Israelis and that using the name “Invasion” on this day is seen as particularly insensitive.
