• Nixon Newell Is Planning To Retire Soon After AEW Incident

Nixon Newell has revealed that she’s nearing the end of her in-ring career, confirming that she plans to retire within the next year. The update came during her Twitch stream with tag team partner Miranda Alize, where the two also addressed the story behind their canceled AEW Collision match.

Newell, who has wrestled in WWE under the name Tegan Nox, said that after more than a decade in wrestling, she wants to spend her remaining time in the ring doing things that are fun and meaningful.

Her comments came shortly after a much-discussed incident involving All Elite Wrestling. Both Newell and Alize were scheduled to face Anna Jay and Tay Conti on the November 8th episode of Collision, but the match was pulled before the show aired. Reports from Fightful Select and PWInsider indicated that the two were unhappy with the planned three-minute time limit and creative layout of the bout.

During their stream, the duo confirmed those details, explaining that while they appreciated the opportunity, they didn’t feel the short match would benefit anyone after the promo they had filmed earlier in the day. They emphasized that there was no hostility or dramatic walkout – they simply spoke to AEW officials, expressed their concerns, and were told they were free to leave if they wished.

Several wrestlers backstage reportedly agreed that three minutes was too short for what Newell and Alize could deliver, and both women made it clear that the decision wasn’t about ego – it was about wanting to make their time in the ring count.

• 2 AEW Stars Claim They Are Better Than “Old Farts” Ricky Steamboat & Ric Flair

On AEW Collision, Tony Schiavone announced on commentary that WWE Hall of Famers Ric Flair and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat will be in attendance for the Blood & Guts special edition of Dynamite on Wednesday.

This will be the first time both legends appear on AEW programming since Sting’s last match at Revolution 2024. They got involved in The Icon’s bout that night, with Steamboat even serving as the Special Guest Timekeeper.

After the announcement, Ricochet took to X to say that he’s better than both of them: “I’m better than both these old farts. #Ahaa”

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné quickly joined in and replied: “Me too! #UltimoMone”

Speaking of The CEO, she’ll team up with Triangle of Madness and Marina Shafir against AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander, “Timeless” Toni Storm, Willow Nightingale, Harley Cameron and Mina Shirakawa in the first-ever Women’s Blood & Guts match.
