• Former WCW Main Eventer Celebrates His Birthday

Old School Talk Show Host Jay Leno celebrates his birthday today.

He’s world famous as the host of The Tonight Show on NBC from 1992 to 2009, and also main evented the WCW PPV ‘Road Wild 1998’ when he teamed with DDP Diamond Dallas Page to take on the heel team of Hollywood Hogan & Eric Bischoff.

Jay Leno’s Team even gained the victory when musician Kevin Eubanks intefered on their behalf and Leno ended up pinning Eric Bischoff.

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (April 28, 2005) – Old School Wrestling Veteran Passed Away

On this day in 2005 we lost Old School Wrestling Veteran “Skip” Chris Candido (Real name: Christopher Candito) at the young age of 33 due to pneumonia.

If you were watching the World Wrestling Federation during the New Generation Era, there’s a big chance you remember him as part of the WWF World Tag Team Champions ‘The Body Donnas’, managed by his real life girlfriend Sunny.

He also wrestled as Chris Candido for Smoky Mountain Wrestling, Extreme Championship Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action.

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (April 28, 2009) – Old School WWF Veteran Passed Away

On this day in 2009, we lost legendary Old School Wrestler “Playboy” Buddy Rose (Real name: Paul Perschmann) at the age of 56 due to diabetes.

He was considered a Legend in several territories such as Verne Gagne’s AWA and Don Owen’s Pacific Northwest, but also made a name for himself in the WWF during the 80s.

Buddy Rose (as The Executioner) wrestled Tito Santana in the opening match of the first ever WrestleMania in 1985.

When he returned to the World Wrestling Federation in 1990, he was used mainly as a ‘Jobber To The Stars’.

In 2019 Buddy Rose was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of their annual Legacy Wing inductions.

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (April 28, 2002) – Old School Wrestling Legend Passed Away

On this day in 2002 we lost Old School NWA Legend Lou Thesz at the age of 86.

He’s considered one of the greatest pure technical mat wrestlers of all time, some might even argue he was the greatest.

If you combine all of his 3 NWA World Heavyweight Championship reigns, he was the Champ for more than 10 years combined.

In 2016 he was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of their 1st annual “Legacy” wing inductions.
