• Old School WWF Legend Would Have Celebrated His Birthday
Today would have been the birthday of Old School WWF/NWA Legend “The Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers (Real name: Herman Gustav Rohde Jr.).
The original Nature Boy had a long and illustrious career that saw him wrestle for several territories and lasted from his debut in 1939 until his retirement in 1983.
Rogers became the first ever WWWF World Heavyweight Champion in 1963, after he had already won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1961.
In 1994 he was posthumously inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame (now known as WWE Hall of Fame) by “The Hitman” Bret Hart.

• Old School Wrestling Legend Would Have Celebrated His Birthday
Today would have been the birthday of Old School Puroresu Legend Antonio Inoki (Real name: Kanji Inoki).
During his career from 1972 till 1998, Inoki wrestled for several companies such as his own promotion New Japan Pro-Wrestling, the World Wrestling Federation, and even Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling.
The NJPW founder & former NJPW promoter was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010 by fellow old school wrestling legend Stan Hansen.
After he sold the New Japan promotion in 2005, it slowly ended up losing all its glory and turned into pretty much just another (in this case international) random, generic indy promotion, totally different from the great traditional company that it used to be.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY & REST IN PEACE!
February 20, 1943 – October 1, 2022

• Old School Wrestling Veteran Celebrates His Birthday
Old School Wrestling Veteran Gedo (Real name: Keiji Takayama) celebrates his birthday today.
The popular puroresu legend started his professional wrestling career in 1989 for New Japan Pro Wrestling, but later also wrestled for All Japan Pro Wrestling, Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling, the Universal Wrestling Association (Mexico), Wrestle Association R, and even Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling.
The highlight of Gedo’s occasional WCW appearances in 1997 & 1998, was wrestling “Lionheart” Chris Jericho on the Halloween Havoc 1997 pay-per-view.
He’s still an active NJPW wrestler nowadays and is also the head-booker for the company, that has unfortunately lost all its former glory, since Antonio Inoki sold it in 2005.
