• Old School WWF Veteran Celebrates His Birthday

Old School WWF New Generation Era Veteran Henry O. Godwinn (Mark Canterbury) celebrates his birthday today.

From 1992 until November 1994, he wrestled for Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling as “Shanghai Pierce”, mostly teaming with the masked “Tex Slazenger”.

A few days after leaving WCW, Henry Orpheus Godwinn (“H.O.G.”) had his World Wrestling Federation debut on an episode of ‘WWF Superstars’.

A little over a year later by January 1996, his old Tag Team partner from WCW joined the WWF as “Phineas I. Godwinn”, teaming with Henry as “The Godwinns”, managed by WWF Legend Hillbilly Jim.

During the Attitude Era they were renamed “Southern Justice”, before H.O.G. left the promotion in October 1998.

• Old School WCW Veteran Celebrates His Birthday

Old School WCW/WWF Veteran Steve Armstrong (Real name: Steven James) celebrates his birthday today.

From 1990 to 1992 Steve Armstrong teamed with Tracy Smothers in Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling as The Southern Boys aka The Young Pistols, before Steve joined the World Wrestling Federation as Lance Cassidy, but the character never made it on a PPV card, so he left the promotion in early 1993.

In 1995 he returned to WCW and mostly teamed up with his brother Scott Armstrong, until Steve left the company in March 2000.

His other brothers are Brian Armstrong (“Road Dogg” Jesse James) & the late Brad Armstrong and their father is WWE Hall of Famer “Bullet” Bob Armstrong.

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (March 16, 2008) – Old School Wrestling Manager Passed Away

On this day in 2008, we lost Old School Wrestling Manager “Playboy” Gary Hart (Real name: Gary Richard Williams) at the age of 66 due to a heart attack.

Most of you will probably remember him as a manager in World Class Championship Wrestling promotion and Jim Crockett Promotions / World championship Wrestling.

Among his clients were famous Wrestlers such as The Great Muta, Al Perez, Gino Hernandez, Terry Funk and Kendo Nagasaki.

Hart was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021 as part of their annual “Legacy Wing” inductions.

• Old School Wrestling Veteran Celebrates His Birthday

Old School Wrestling Veteran “Maniac” Mark Lewin celebrates his birthday today.

Mark Lewin wrestled for various territories from his debut in 1953 until his retirement in 1998, including Championship Wrestling From Florida (CWF), Georgia Championship Wrestling (GCW), NWA Big Time Wrestling, NWA All-Star Wrestling, World Class Championship Wrestling, … among several others.

In Florida during the early 80s, he was known as “The Purple Haze”, a member of Kevin Sullivan’s stable.
