On this day in Pro Wrestling history on March 27, 1988, Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling aired ‘NWA Clash Of The Champions’ LIVE on TBS from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The inaugural Clash of the Champions was done to air on free TV, directly against the WWF WrestleMania IV pay-per-view.
It was the first out of 35 NWA/WCW Clash of the Champions events that all aired on TBS between 1988 and 1997.

• Old School WWF Veteran Would Have Celebrated His Birthday
Today would have been the birthday of Old School WWF Veteran “Big” Swede Hanson (Real name: Robert Hanson).
Hanson wrestled for the World Wide Wrestling Federation / World Wrestling Federation during the 70s & 80s.
During his last 2 years in the WWF (1984 & 1985) he was mainly used as a “Jobber To The Stars” to put over big names like Don Muraco, Bob Orton Jr., Randy Savage, Adrian Adonis, King Kong Bundy, Bret Hart and Jesse Ventura, but also gained a few wins in between over wrestlers like Steve Lombardi, Charlie Fulton and Rene Goulet.
