• Tony Khan Wants WWE Legend Back In AEW
Chris Jericho has been on a hiatus from AEW programming since the April 9th episode of Dynamite, where he expressed his frustration towards Big Bill and Bryan Keith after losing the ROH World Championship.
Rumors have surfaced online in recent weeks that the former AEW World Champion’s contract with Tony Khan’s promotion is set to expire in December this year. On top of that, Jericho recently stated that he’d be open to a WWE return.
While speaking on The Torg & Elliott Show, AEW President Tony Khan made it clear that he wants the legend back in his promotion.
“Chris Jericho has been here since the very beginning. I have so much great respect for Chris Jericho. I would love to have Chris in AEW any time. We absolutely want Chris Jericho back in AEW, and hopefully soon. He’s been great with us and been with us since the first event. The very first AEW World Champion, and Chris is a huge part of the history in AEW and is still in great shape and a great wrestler.”
The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla left WWE in 2018 after competing in the Greatest Royal Rumble match.
• Top RAW Star Shuts Down Injury Rumors Ahead Of Wrestlepalooza
Stephanie Vaquer was supposed to have a contract signing for her match with IYO SKY for the vacant Women’s World Championship at Wrestlepalooza on the latest episode of RAW. However, that did not happen as the Chilean star did not appear on the show for an undisclosed reason.
The Wrestling Observer reported earlier today that she was dealing with a minor injury, which is why she missed the show.
While speaking on Unlikely With Adrian Hernandez, Vaquer shut down the rumor and stated that she’s not injured.
“No, I [see] social media sometimes, many things like, not real. No injuries. I’m ready. I’m ready for RAW for next Monday. So no, no injuries.”
The 32-year-old will team up with WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and Rhea Ripley to take on Fatal Influence at NXT Homecoming next Tuesday.
• Former AEW Star Wants To Return To WWE
Paige, also known as Saraya, was a guest on the latest edition of Busted Open Radio, where she talked about a variety of topics.
She talked about the connection she had with the WWE locker room and missing working with them.
“I’m always going to have that feeling, because WWE is doing amazing things right now. I miss being in the locker room. I miss being around people like Natty. I miss my sisters. I miss being a part of these things.”
She then discussed the return of AJ Lee, a star she beat on her first night on the main roster to become the Divas Champion.
“When I watched AJ, I’ve watched that over and over again, because she’s my fairy godmother. She was one that took me under her wing when I first came up on the roster, and we traveled together. My social media has blown up. I cannot go on there without hundreds of thousands of people doing videos being like, ‘Please bring Saraya back. Please bring Paige back.’
It made me emotional. People still like me, and they still want me to be around. That’s probably the best feeling in the world for me.”
She then talked about wanting to be Paige again while discussing a potential return to WWE.
I feel like I have done a lot for women’s wrestling. My career was cut short with the neck, but now my neck is healthy. I’m in full health. I want to start training again. I want to get in the ring and bring back the Paige that I was in NXT.
I watched a match I had with Natty a couple of days ago, and I thought, man, I just miss that side of me. I need to get back in the swing of things again. So if I ever do come back…
I’m ready to come back. I want to get my cardio back and get the ring rust off. I found my love for it again. This is such an exciting time for wrestling, and I miss it. I want to be Paige again, like the way she wrestled in NXT, and I want to upgrade her. I’m not going to be crazy, but I want to do the new generation style of wrestling.
If I ever come back, people are going to be surprised at what I can do. I’m going to credit Natty because I am coming to the Dungeon. I’m going to come there for a good month, and we are going to sweat.”
I feel like I have done a lot for women’s wrestling. I do believe that. But everyone has a moment, a human moment, where you get in your head. Sometimes this world can be exhausting mentally, and you have insecurity.
I know I’ve done a lot, and I know my career has been really great, but it was cut short with the neck. Now my neck is healthy. Now I’m in full health. I want to start training again and get back in the ring.”
Paige was forced to retire from in-ring competition in 2018 due to a neck injury. She returned to action when she signed with AEW in 2022. She left All Elite Wrestling earlier this year.
