• Why WWE Couldn’t Stop Andrade From Joining AEW Immediately
Tonight’s 6-Year Anniversary special episode of AEW Dynamite kicked off with Kenny Omega and Brodido vs. Josh Alexander and The Young Bucks in a Trios Match. The Cleaner’s team got the win after which Alexander and The Young Bucks attacked him.
Jurassic Express came out to make the save after which Jack Perry and Kenny Omega had a heated moment. Suddenly, the lights went out and Andrade showed up in a mask to blindside Omega. El Idolo then confirmed his alliance with Don Callis.
Just when @KennyOmegamanX was getting sentimental, @AndradeElIdolo attacks!

As per Fightful Select, Andrade has signed a full-time contract with AEW. His return had been in the work for a couple of weeks. He was able to return to the company less than a month after his WWE release because there was no non-compete clause in his contract.
Released WWE talents usually have a 90-day non-compete clause in their contracts, preventing them from wrestling for another company during that time.
Andrade was released by WWE due to disciplinary issues. He last appeared for the company in a TLC Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam earlier this year.
El Idolo first left WWE in 2021 to join AEW later that year. He then parted ways with Tony Khan’s promotion at the end of 2023 and joined WWE in 2024. He is now All Elite once again after his second departure from WWE last month.
Here’s what he tweeted about his return to AEW:

• Health Update On Jade Cargill After SmackDown Accident
Tiffany Stratton defended the WWE Women’s Championship in a Triple-Threat Match against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax in the main event of last week’s SmackDown.
The match featured a few botches, and one of them was Nia Jax driving Jade Cargill into the steel steps head first. This left Cargill bloody and the medical team immediately rushed to check on her.

According to PWInsider, the word making the rounds on this week’s RAW was that Cargill only needed stitches to close the huge gash and didn’t need to undergo plastic surgery. The hope internally is that she could be cleared to wrestle within a few weeks.
There’s no sign that the former Women’s Tag Team Champion has been pulled from the road.
• Original Plan For The Botched Pinfall On SmackDown
There was another huge botch during the 3-way WWE Women’s Title match when Stratton pinned Jax and the referee stopped her count, despite Jax not kicking out.
According to Fightful Select, sources indicated that Stratton arrived late to break up Cargill’s pin on Nia, forcing Jax to kick out instead. It’s unclear why the referee didn’t count the three for Stratton later on, as that was said to be the planned finish. Internal WWE accounts of the situation vary, and the details remain unclear.
A fan on X suggested that Stratton was supposed to steal the win after Cargill hit Jax with the Eye of the Storm. According to the fan, that was where the match was originally meant to end, but the WWE Women’s Champion being late in driving Cargill out of the ring caused the botched pinfall and forced the finish to be changed.
“Tiffany was late to break up the pin. She was supposed to push Jade out and STEAL the win and that was the end of the match. They’ve done similar finishes at house shows.”
It appears that The Buff Barbie pushing Cargill out of the ring to secure the victory was indeed the planned finish, as Cargill herself liked the tweet making that claim.
Below is a screenshot which shows Cargill’s like on the tweet:

It’s possible that the referee assumed Nia was going to kick out of Tiffany’s pinfall too, because she kicked out of Jade’s pinfall just seconds earlier. However, it looks like Nia went with the original finish.
